Meet Your Practitioner.

Brooke Lorenzen, FDNP

For years, I felt like a foreigner in my own body.

I struggled with symptoms that seemed unrelated but were all impacting my quality of life – acne, painful and heavy periods, digestive issues, hair loss, bloating, fatigue, and brain fog.

Like many people searching for answers, I turned to the solutions I was told would help.

I was prescribed Accutane and spironolactone for acne, birth control for my periods, antibiotics for frequent illness, and other interventions designed to manage my symptoms. While some provided temporary relief, none of them addressed why those symptoms were happening in the first place.

In many cases, the symptoms eventually returned. Some treatments left me with new side effects, and I found myself stuck in a cycle of chasing symptoms.

Despite staying active, cleaning up my diet, and doing everything I thought I was “supposed” to do, I still didn’t feel well.

That’s when I found functional lab testing.

For the first time, I began to uncover why I had been struggling with these symptoms. This is when true healing started to happen.

My GI MAP revealed an overgrowth of bad bacteria and low beneficial bacteria, helping explain years of bloating, digestive discomfort, brain fog, acne and other symptoms. My DUTCH test showed low cortisol production, providing insight into my extreme morning fatigue and difficulty getting out of bed each morning. My blood chemistry analysis revealed patterns associated with low thyroid and thyroid antibodies, helping explain symptoms related to metabolism, energy, hair loss, inflammation, and overall wellness.

Lab results are a major part of the puzzle, but they aren’t the only thing driving healing.

Rather than simply reviewing a lab report and handing you a list of supplements, I take a deeply personalized, whole-body approach to your wellness.

Functional lab testing provides valuable insights, but your symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle habits, stress levels, sleep quality, environment, detox capacity, and health history all play an important role in your health too.

That’s why I don’t just focus on what the lab results says – I look deeper as to why it may be showing up in the first place.

Together, we’ll use your lab results as a roadmap to identify patterns, uncover potential root causes, and create a personalized plan tailored to your unique needs and goals
